The first ZOOM conversation for LUTHERAN PHILOSOPHER subscribers will be this Wednesday, September 7th at 7 pm (CST).
I’m very interested in talking with you about my philosophy of education, but to do that well we need to be at home with good, philosophical conversation.
So, my thought is to talk together about (1) how to have human(e) philosophical conversations in September, and to follow this with a philosophical conversation about (2) my Lutheran philosophy of education in October.
We will be using excerpts from C.S. Lewis (That Hideous Strength, and Abolition) to get each “Zoom-versation” off the ground.
Sign up to be a LUTHERAN PHILOSOPHER email subscriber at my website below and I’ll send you all the information about the ZOOM conversations.
Lord willing, we will be having ZOOM conversations at this same time the first three Wednesdays of each month. The only breaks in this routine will be during the seasons of Advent and Lent, when many of us will be enjoying midweek divine services.
My dear wife and I have recently been rereading C.S. Lewis’s book, That Hideous Strength. As you may already know, this book is a novelization of Lewis’s major work on education, The Abolition of Man.

ZOOM Schedule and Topics for September and October
In September, I will use examples from Chapter 14, “Real Life Is Meeting” and Chapter 15, The Descent of the Gods, in That Hideous Strength.
With that background in philosophical conversation in September, we can move to the philosophical conversation about my philosophy of education in October, drawing on each of the three essays in Abolition of Man.
Please put our ZOOM conversations on your calendar!
